YOUNG, INNOCENT, NOW DEAD

It was a hot, sultry Mexican border town night
He was a young kid of twenty, horny with no sense
All he had on his mind was a cold beer and a red light
Did not see the skull and crossbones when he walked through the fence

The Street of gold was dirt, dogs barking everywhere
A string of whorehouses, but pearls they were not
As he wandered off into Hell without a prayer
To the land of we don't remember, because we forgot

The tequila flows like a raging river, the mariachis sing
Guitars playing, as the whores will dance for you
Down a river of grief and what it can bring
Waking up to tomorrow will only happen to a few

The young kid is in Pancho's Cantina, two beers under his belt
No longer a kid, hell he feels like a man
He sees a sexy target at the end of the bar, he is about to melt
He is ready, in his hand he crushes the beer can

His target is an old lady of eighteen, they don't stay young long there
She looks pretty to the young stud, but not for long
He thinks that she is a dream, she is Hell's nightmare
As that is his first step of going wrong

In minutes they stuck a deal, to her room is where they would head
Down a dingy dark hall, for him is where it would end that night
When hit with a club, on the floor he was dead
And the old whore of eighteen ran out of sight

Drug smugglers dragged his carcass away, they had a job to do
The dead boy was gutted at a place not far away
His empty belly was filled with cocaine, thru and thru
With needle and thread, sewed up so the cocaine would stay

Loaded in a car, to the border they would go
When asked at the port of entry, What’s wrong with that boy there
Oh he’s just drunk and sleeping it off, so they let them go
The one that went to Mexico without a prayer

It was a hot, sultry Mexican border town night
But to some this story, well, it may sound gory
But this is something that happens there, just about every night
This is not fiction, Hell, this is a true story
