A FARRIER, THROUGH THE EYES OF AN ABUSED HORSE

Well, here I am, standing in my stall, he’s coming today
And yes, I know that it’s time
My hooves are getting long, why do they get that way
I hope that it’s not like the last time

I stood still, but he hurt me anyway
He was mad when he got to me
Why are they that way
And do that to me

After he left, I couldn’t walk
Oh, my feet hurt so bad
Of what he did to me, God, I wish I could talk
I can barely stand, and feel so sad

My owner tells me this one will be all right
But I have so little trust in me anymore
Maybe that’s why I fight
Just to settle the score
